Monday Again!

Well, here it is Monday again. I spent Saturday at my only grandson's 2nd birthday party. Since I'm new at this Grandma thing, of course, I forgot my camera. I have only two pictures that my niece was nice enough to send me and they're really not very good pictures. I'll add them anyway because they're the only ones that I have of the occasion at this point.

The girl on the left is my new DIL (9/1/07) and the girl on the right is my daughter. She's the mom to my cutest little grandson.

I just found the best blog and I would like to fashion mine after it but, of course, I don't have any pictures of my crafts. Maybe eventually I'll be able to get up to the speed this one is at but it's going to take some time. Anyway, here's the link: http://happybirdscraftinghaven.blogspot.com/search/label/Cheap%20and%20Thoughtful%20Christmas%20Ideas

I find lots of good blog sites that I really should keep in a file somewhere so I can find them again when I want to revisit.

Since I didn't do much today, I really don't have much to write about. I still have alot to do before the day is done though so I guess I better get crackin'.

OK, Let's try this again!!

This is my second attempt at this. I started a blog a few months ago but somehow I lost it!!!!?!?! I hadn't posted to it for quite some time and when I went back to it now to post...GONE! It had a picture of me and everything! Maybe that's why it's gone! Someone decided there wasn't anybody who would be able to tolerate a site like that so they just deleted it!! LOL

Well, anyway, here we are in a new year and hopefully, it will be better than the last one. The year 2007 was not a good year for me. It started out in January with the death of my father and didn't improve much after that but now...a new year. It's bound to be better!
Hopefully, this year, I will be able to find a job! Michigan employment prospects are not very good right now. If all else fails, I'll go to Alabama. I have some loose ends to tie up here and I can head down that way. Maybe, there's work there.

What you are seeing here are pictures of my retirement home in Alabama. My husband and I "built" it about two years ago on the Elk River at the mouth of the Tennessee River. We are looking forward to moving there on a permanent basis as soon as my husband can retire (about 1 more year). I say "built" because it is a Jim Walter home that was located on Route 72 in Huntsville and we basically disassembled it and moved it about 45 miles west to place it on our lot on the river. Since then, every time we go down there we do a little more work on it. It's almost finished now. We just have a little bit of finishing work to do and possibly when we get down there full time, we can worry about some landscaping.

This is the view of the pier from our back yard, looking toward the river. We still need to build a boathouse...but that, too, can wait until we are down there full-time. We are planning a trip there tomorrow night when my husband gets off work (11:00pm) and we will stay for the next week. Right now, I think, it's warmer in Michigan than it is there, but I'm sure we'll have a good time anyway. I've got curtains to make and painting to do so it will be warm enough inside to do that.

This is where I live most of the time (for now):

This is how it looks in the summer time. Not too, shabby as far as weather goes.

This is what it looks like in the winter time. YUCK!!! Cold and icy and snowy. It looks pretty, but let me tell you, sunshine looks pretty AND feels nice!
